Update #59

Good Evening,

Jeff was admitted to Cardinal Glennon this morning.  I was getting ready to leave for Bible Study at 6:15 and checked on him as usual.  His temperature was 102.2 and vomited within a few minutes of being out of bed.  We put things in the car and were on the road around 7:00.  They immediately started him on fluids and the stronger antibiotic (that last time gave him a rash).  He started itching so they gave him Benadryl which helped.  Jeff was also given a second antibiotic later in the morning.  They started a blood culture to see what might be causing this.  Dr. Gauvain was also going to check on those 2 biopsies on one of those spots taken from the leg yesterday.

Jeff has been sick several times today and his fever has spiked to 103.8 at two different times during the day.  Dr. Gauvain commented late this afternoon that the biopsy on the leg was ok but they were still waiting for the culture on the leg and the blood culture (that could take 72 hours).

We were visited this afternoon by Cathy Rusk from Pasadena.  Steve has a meeting in StL and they were going to then come up and spend the weekend at our house.  Guess we'll just visit here instead.  We figure Jeff will be in CG through the weekend.

This is the first time (including Hodgkin's)that Jeff has been admitted for a complication.  He was rather bummed out about it this morning but sleeping most of the day has kept his mind off it.  Please continue your prayers since we know that with no infection fighting cells this could take longer than we anticipate.  God has watched over Jeff for years and we know He will continue through this complication.  Thanks again for your prayers.

love,

Marcia
