Update # 84
Day Plus 10
Good Evening,
This morning was good when Jeff was able to connect into the hospital's wireless internet. Some people had always said he could but no really knew what to do. Finally, last night's nurse gave him part of a brochure. I had to find out more details so now the computer runs much faster than the dial up.
Fever has been part of Jeff's evenings and nights the last couple of days but seems to disappear during the day. So far this evening there is no fever so maybe we're past that hurdle.
We noticed a non-itching rash on Tuesday. Wednesday it was mostly on Jeff's back and yesterday spread over most of his body. They determined it was one of the antibiotics. That medicine was changed last night and today the rash is greatly diminished.
Another medicine change last night was the form of the anti-rejection med. It had been a 20-hour bag but was changed to pill form since Jeff was doing so well. Now he takes 3 pills in the morning and 3 more of them at night.
The daily Neupogen shots are a larger dose than Jeff has ever received. It produces some joint pain and they give him meds for it. The shots did make a small rise in his counts last night.
His magnesium level has been low so Jeff had a couple of doses the last few days.
Tonight's counts just came in -- more infection fighting cells!!! He will need blood and potassium though tonight.
All in all, things are going well. Dr. DiPersio says Jeff is doing great and that's what we want to hear. Your prayers are working wonders. Thank you for praying for Jeff. Enjoy your families at Christmas.
love,
Marcia
