Update # 74

Good Evening,

No, no date yet!  Don't worry -- I'll put it in big letters when we know.

We did find out Friday afternoon that the bone marrow biopsy scheduled at Barnes for Wed. the 22nd has been postponed.  Since there is no date yet and Dr. Dipersio wants the test done closer to time, it has now been scheduled for Monday the 27th.  Then the appointment with his assistant scheduled for the 22nd has also been postponed till Fri. 12-1.

Ken and Jeff went down to Costas this morning and Jeff's platelets were extremely low again.  Twice in a row!  He did not need blood just yet so he only received the one unit of platelets.  

Dr. Gauvain doesn't think Jeff will make it through Thanksgiving so she wants him to return on Wednesday the 22nd for another CBC.  She figures he'll need blood by then and probably more platelets.  Since Ken has Thanksgiving service that night, I'll take Jeff down so Ken doesn't have to watch the clock.  Blood and platelets can take all day.

Jeff noticed his hair coming out again yesterday from the last round of chemo.  So last night he shaved his head again.  We weren't quite sure of the exact color anyway but it was different than it had been the other times.

Jeff really does feel pretty good.  We can tell he sleeps a little more but he doesn't seem too worn out when he moves around.

If Jeff only receives blood and platelets on Wednesday, I think I'll try to wait for the next update till Monday after the bone marrow biopsy.
