Update # 121

One Year plus 15 days

Good Evening,

We had a “White Christmas” when we arrived at Jeff’s place on Christmas afternoon.  There have been a few flurries and inches more will be coming tomorrow to add to the pile that continues to grow in Waterloo.  Saturday should be clear so we plan to return home that day.

The three of us went to Iowa City today for Jeff’s eye appointment.  Dr. Wagoner was again pleased with Jeff’s eyes.  He is still manufacturing tears and had good tear film.  There is no wear and tear and no damage which means the Graft vs. Host is not affecting Jeff’s eyes.  Dr. Wagoner wants another 3-month check-up so that was scheduled for March 20th.

Jeff is in contact with a Dr. Carter (Dr. DiPersio knows him) in Iowa City about the next round of immunizations.  They hope to meet the middle of February.

Christmas Day brought unexpected pain to Jeff when a tooth began to bother him.  He did not sleep much that night and had to wait until he was able to contact his dentist the next morning.  The doctor prescribed some meds and set up an appointment.

Locally in Waterloo, Jeff will only need monthly port flushes.  I’ll probably update after that February immunization appointment.  Of course, if anything changes, I’ll contact you.

Last year on this date, Jeff was discharged from the hospital following his transplant.  This year, we spent the day shopping in Iowa City.  We daily give thanks to God for blessings to Jeff.  Sunday he will celebrate his 24th birthday.  We pray 2008 showers Jeff with more strength and healing.  Your continued prayers are always requested.  Our prayer for each of you in 2008 is that God blesses you with His love and favor.  Happy New Year!!!

Love,

Marcia
