Update # 114

Day Plus 227

Good Evening,

Jeff got "the" call last Monday at 11:00 AM!!!  He's back working at KWWL -- only part-time doing various hours and various positions.  He started on Wednesday the 25th and will gladly do whatever until a full time director position opens for him.

Let me fill most of you in on more details.  Jeff left for Waterloo on Sunday the 22nd to move into his new apartment.  Ken and I waited till the next day to drive up with some of his things.  Remember... last year when we drove up, he called us along the way saying he had called in sick to work with a 102 fever.  This year he called to say his boss wanted to meet with him that afternoon.  Thank God for your prayers about the job and apartment!!!

The POD arrived on Tuesday the 24th.  Jeff had 3 friends come to help us unload the furniture and arrange it that day.  The next couple of days we brought in boxes for the different rooms and started unpacking.  We help as much as we can when Jeff is home.  When he's at work, he leaves instructions for us.  We're not yet finished and plan on spending several more days in Waterloo getting his new home settled.  We were very impressed with the POD.  Jeff's furniture and belongings came out just as clean and fresh as when Ken loaded them in last year.  That climate controlled storage facility was definitely worth the money.

Jeff is finding that even part time work is wearing him down.  He rests every day and we don't let him work too much at home.  As a whole, Jeff is feeling better.  We're not sure if it's the move, the job, the Prednisone or all three.  We spoke with the nurse practitioner in StL and she felt Jeff's symptoms were better so his Prednisone dosage was decreased by half starting on Wednesday.

The only real problem with things right now is the cable company.  They came on Tuesday to hook up internet and cable.  Some line in the building is broken and the apartment owner is having to do battle with the cable people about the repair.  Things will be fixed on Monday and the cable people will finally hook Jeff up next Wednesday the 1st.  Ken and I are sitting in Panera's using Jeff's laptop to write this update.  I'm not sure when I'll update again.

We still haven't heard which day next week that we get to meet and greet the Waterloo oncologist.  Jeff will also have to have his port flushed at this new place next week.

Last year at this time, we weren't sure of Jeff's future.  The road was rough and long but your prayers every step of the way helped Jeff return to his life in Iowa.   God continues to show us miracles and bless Jeff.  We are truly thankful for you and for each and every day.  Please keep Jeff in your prayers as he continues his transplant journey.  May God bless you in your lives.

love,

Marcia
