Update # 110

Day Plus 169

Good Evening,

We returned last night from nephew Trevor's high school graduation celebration.  It was a great weekend especially for Jeff.  He was able to really enjoy going out and about with his cousins.  We had an added treat to spend time with the Rusks from Pasadena.  They happened to be in the Chicago area looking for a new home before their return to Illinois this summer.

Our drive home yesterday was through Waterloo, IA for Jeff to view a different apartment.  Our trip to Waterloo on the 18th was to see a third floor apartment.  He liked the layout of the different complex from where he lived before but all the stairs were a concern.  He felt this lower level apartment was in a perfect location in the complex for him so he put down a deposit to secure it for, hopefully, a summer move back north.

Jeff's appointment today with the nurse practitioner went very well.  Last week is when he began taking the anti-rejection medicine every other day.  He seems to be doing fine with it.  They plan to do this for one month and then stop the medication completely.  At that time, they want to also discontinue three other medicines he is taking.  They did tell Jeff to watch for a GVHD flair-up about 3-4 months after discontinuing the anti-rejection medicine.  I noticed today that Jeff's pulse was a bit lower.  It has been running high since December so just a week of every other day of the anti-rejection med has made a difference.

The antibody level still remained the same as the last time.  But the red count again rose on its own and this time was more of an increase so the nurse practitioner did not seem concerned that the antibody level did not change.

Jeff says the medicine to help his feet is working.  They had said it takes a while to really take effect and he's been on it for five weeks.

June 8th will be the big day --- six-month bone marrow biopsy.  A PET/CT Scan will also be done to check the Hodgkin's.  That will be a long day for Jeff and I'll update that night as usual.

Our thanks continue to each of you for all your prayers and support.  Life for Jeff is beginning to return to normal with a great family weekend and securing a new home.  God is truly showering us miracles and we daily give Him thanks.  We also keep you all in our prayers.

love,

Marcia
