Update #50

Good Morning,

The last four days have been relatively quiet -- which we appreciate.

Jeff received a unit of platelets on Wednesday.

Thursday we received a visit from our favorite new volunteer - Dr. Chu.  He even sat down and chatted for a while.  But he said his new boss, Dave, told him that he had to visit 10 kids.

Thursday was also good since Barnes contacted CG and said they found "several" matches.  Now the search begins for a closer look at antigens, availability and health of possible donors.  Now sure how long all that takes.

Jeff's IV fluids were reduced on Thursday by 50%.  His taste buds seem to be coming back so he has been eating and drinking more.

Friday was a great day -- Jeff was freed from his IV's!

He's only hooked up for his antibiotic 3 times a day.  Of course, he must continue to drink, drink, drink.  They also let Jeff leave the Unit and walk around the 4th floor.  His doctor said he may even go outside.  We had to wait for an elevator with no people and then we went to the first floor patio and watched the traffic on Grand Blvd.  Of course, he could touch nothing so he kept his hands in his pockets.  It was 7:00 PM so there was no sun and a wonderful breeze.

Jeff had some infection fighting cells this morning!!!

Jeff's doctor said this morning that if his counts continue to rise the next few days, maybe'll she do the bone marrow biopsy sooner than planned.  So it's day by day for this week.

Ken and Haupts have Jeff's apartment packed and ready for the POD on Monday.  The 4 of them are heading to the Amana Colonies today for some relaxation.

Little Josh is holding his own also.  But Levi across the hall had a bad night last night and was transferred to ICU in the middle of the night.  He had his transplant on Tuesday for a recurring brain tumor.  Please pray for him, too.

So your prayers are working the way we have asked.  It's great to have the doctor come in, smile, say things are good, and then leave.  We just can't thank you all enough.  We keep you all in our prayers.  God bless!

love,

Marcia
