Update # 100
Day Plus 90
Good Evening,
Our long day was shorter than anticipated. We were at Siteman around 7 hours. We were out mid-afternoon and able to feel that warm 70 degree weather. Of course we'll be back in the 40's in a couple of days.
Jeff had his lab work and 2 units of blood before we saw Dr. DiPersio. Just at the end of the blood transfusion, the clamp on one of the lumens broke. It should not cause a problem but they did tape the cap on.
While Jeff was getting his blood, Ken and I walked over to Children's Hospital in the same complex to see 2 students from my school. A gentleman from town was also at Siteman today so it was a Hillsboro day!
Jeff's counts are about the same. He knew he was ready for that blood as usual. Dr. DiPersio said he does not want to wait too much longer for the blood to change on its own. So it's possible in April that Jeff will need to start a new additional medicine to try to help it change. We've tried to hold off using it since it can have some side effects. The doctor kidded that Jeff will be the only one without side effects. Jeff received that one shot again today. That will continue every other week.
The lungs sounded clear today. There is still a slight sometimes cough but they weren't concerned about it.
This past week, Jeff has had a little vomiting. It could be a little residual from the pneumonia and meds. They want to keep a watch on it since it might be a little Graft vs. Host.
Dr. DiPersio agreed that Jeff may have the trifusion removed and a port inserted on the 26th. He thinks that's long enough from the time of the pneumonia. I think the clamp breaking on that lumen also helped make the decision.
After living in this area for a little over 16 1/2 years, we hit a deer on the way home. None of us were hurt and the van does not even look damaged. The second deer almost made it across the highway but Ken still got the left rear of the deer with the front left of the van. You have to look closely to see the fender and headlight pushed out of alignment. So it will need a little body work.
Even though Day Plus 100 is March 22nd, the Day 100 bone marrow biopsy will be done next Monday, the 19th. I'll email that night but we won't have that test result for several days.
Thank you again for all your prayers. I'd like special ones for Jeff's blood to "flip" soon so he does not have to start that particular medicine. He is doing pretty well according to Dr. DiPersio but he does not want Jeff to wait too much longer to start making red blood cells.
Take care and enjoy these extra 3 weeks of daylight savings time.
love,
Marcia
