Update #214

A beautiful sunny day in the 70's did shine on all of us today.

The first doc to see Jeff this morning, discussed the possibility of discharge. But then decided Jeff should remain in the hospital a bit longer. The doctor felt the slight drop in Jeff's oxygen level when walking was not what he felt was in Jeff's best interest.

Later in the afternoon, a second doctor wants Jeff to have a chest x-ray tomorrow. She told Jeff she did not want him to go home and then return in a few days feeling worse.

Early evening Jeff received his first dose of Remdesivir. He was told they are now giving this to "pretty much everyone". This antiviral med helps keep the lungs clear and we know Jeff's lungs have had enough stuff in them over the years. The once-a-day hour long infusion only caused a slight upset stomach. Jeff was told he could be getting 4 or 5 doses. And also, the reason he did not receive Remdesivir yesterday was that Jeff's kidney level was a bit too high.

Jeff did not see the infectious doctor or his pulmonologist today. Hopefully, one of them will stop by tomorrow and give more details of Jeff's plan. We've learned over the years, weekends have different staff working in the hospitals.

Jeff is feeling like he could be sitting at home rather than in a hospital bed but knows a few days longer where he is will make sure he keeps this virus from advancing in his body.

We thank each of you for your words of love and encouragement. And are especially thankful for all the prayers for Jeff and the rest of us.

love, Marcia
