Update # 213

almost 14 years

COVID -- has entered Jeff's medical journey. Fortunately, it does not currently look too scary.

The end of last week, Jeff noticed a slight cough so began his home nebulizer breathing treatment with Albuteral. For a few hours, there was a low grade fever which cleared up.

Yesterday morning, he woke with a 101 fever. He immediately called his family doctor. She recommended a Covid test. Off to the ER he and Meridith went for hours of waiting. Chest x-ray, blood work, and the nasal swab testing 19 items including that old nasty RSV and now Covid. The only positive came back Covid. Oh, the 101 fever had broken on its own before entering the ER.

Jeff was admitted late last night to the Waterloo hospital. Naturally, no visitors allowed. He was to see the infectious doctor today and learn the plan. This morning Jeff was happy to see the familiar face of his pulmonologist. It was encouraging to hear the words -- Hey, I've seen you worse than this. This afternoon, the infectious doctor said she thought his lungs sounded okay. Her recommendation is to watch and see. He has had a couple of antibiotics. The one doc is watching his kidneys and counts are looking better.

Jeff asked if he might stay in over the weekend since they sounded encouraging. They said check tomorrow and see if that long is even needed. Jeff says he feels not that bad and just has that slight cough.

Since Meridith has been exposed to Covid, she is home from school for 14 days. If she begins with any symptoms', then she will get tested.

I will update again later tomorrow after Jeff knows the next step. We are thankful Jeff is doing this well with this wicked virus. Here we are again asking each of you for your prayers for Jeff. We feel your love and support in each prayer.

love, Marcia
