Update #209
10.5 years
Yes, the date on this is correct. Yes, some of you (30 some) received the original update on Tuesday. Our main computer decided to not send to the entire list of family/friends.
Below is the original update. Then below that will be a new addendum of info.
-------------------------------
Wow! Almost 8 months since the last update. Yes, that means life is good.
Jeff has been well the vast majority of this time. He made it through Winter without a pneumonia! He did have a couple of respiratory infections but antibiotics from his family doc helped those. Each time only required one or two sick days from work. No hospitalizations were needed.
Jeff's annual StL appointment was last Monday July 31st. As soon as we walked out the door, the 4 of us headed to Michigan for a one week vacation with family. Jeff & Meridith flew home Sunday night while Ken and I drove home yesterday. That's why this update is now arriving.
Dr. DiPersio was very pleased with Jeff. He said counts were perfect. The GVHD is showing some spots again on Jeff's back so the anti-fungal med was prescribed short term to calm it down. Amazing, a short 5 minutes was the doctor's appointment for 2017. The 2018 date is June 11th.
Of course, we really have to wait till September and check the Cardinals schedule to make sure they're in town. Sadly, they lost Saturday the 29th!
It feels good to write a brief update. We continue to be thankful that each of you continues your prayers for Jeff. You bless us every day with your love and support. God is great and we thank Him for you. Hopefully, I'll wait to update till next year.
-------------------------------
Leg cramps have been an on/off issue with Jeff for years. He was having some before and during vacation. Returning home, he felt a knot below his right knee. He made an appointment with his family doc but noticed what appeared to be a bruise on the heel. His doc recommended he go to the ER to be sure it was not a blood clot. Jeff & Meridith spent several hours there Tuesday night. Thankfully, no blood clot. Wednesday a MRI showed a hematoma. Who knows how that appeared. Jeff is to have PT for a gentle massage to help it dissipate and reabsorb into the body. Jeff will return in 2 weeks to have the hematoma checked.
Apparently, not all the blood counts were in when we saw Dr. D in StL. Jeff's glucose level was elevated. You remember this has sometimes been an issue over the years. Jeff has no typical symptoms that people think of with diabetes but to be safe, he has started a daily dose of insulin. His family doc will watch him and see if he returns to normal as he seems to do.
-------------------------------
So, hopefully, everyone gets the original update plus the new addendum. I do not plan to send another update in 2 weeks when Jeff gets the hematoma checked. We'll do -- no news is good news. Thanks for continued prayers.
