Update #149

Month 53

Hi,

Meridith is safely back home in Iowa.  Her brother and dad arrived here about 12:15 PM.  Ken stayed to watch them take off at 1:30.  Jeff heard from Meridith when they landed about 4:15.  She said the flight was good and sent him some pretty pictures of the river.

Today I notice Jeff is more alert.  He has been up all day and not gone back to bed for a nap plus Jeff has been eating and drinking well.  They want Jeff to start doing a bit more to regain some strength.  His first venture out of the room was last night when he and Meridith walked 2 laps around the whole floor.  Late this afternoon, he and Ken walked 3 laps around the hall.  After his last IV antibiotic tonight, I told Jeff we need to again do a few more laps.

Dr. DiPersio's morning associate indicated that they'd like Jeff on IV antibiotics for a week.  That makes it sound like maybe late Friday or early Saturday Jeff might be discharged.  They have said no date -- that's just our interpretation.  Jeff just wants to be sure he's had plenty of these strong antibiotics to clear out his lungs.

So, a short email indicating a good day all around.  A safe flight for Meridith and her family and a quiet day for Jeff.  Thanks for the prayers that make these days possible.  God continues to bless Jeff and us.  If tomorrow is another quiet day, I may wait until Friday for the next update. Thanks to all of you, I think we're to the point of my dad's saying -- no news is good news.

love,

Marcia
