Update #147

Month 53

Greetings,

First of all, we want to thank all of you who added Jeff's name to your congregational prayer list in this morning's worship service and mass.  It is very emotional to know family and friends from across the country and around the world are lifting up Jeff to God.  I was not able to physically join with our choir this morning when they sang "The Lord is My Shepherd" but my heart and soul were joining in with the words on this Good Shepherd Sunday.

It was a good Sunday to see Jeff have a bit more improvement.  He was able to fall asleep last night without the aid of a sleeping pill. He did have some coughing during the night but a little cough syrup helped.  The cough now comes in spells and is not continuous.  Jeff sat in a chair and visited with a couple of close family friends this afternoon.  He has stayed in the chair this evening enjoying his iPad.

Dr. DiPersio came in right before Noon for a talk.  He still has "no new leads" so we wait for results of previous tests.  Since the cough has quieted a bit, we can notice some nasal congestion.  Dr. DiPersio suggested a sinus CT Scan to see what's there with a possible cleaning of the area.  That is scheduled for tomorrow but we don't yet know the time.

The doctor is changing the anti-fungal antibiotic from an IV to pill form beginning this evening.  He mentioned he's now thinking of a week of IV meds and then a couple of days of oral meds before Jeff is "good to go".  He was not sure if Jeff will leave with or without the PICC line.  Guess it will depend on how things are going.

As long as we were talking, I asked if Jeff's rescheduled May 31st oral surgery should again be postponed.  Right now he says it should be fine to keep the appointment.  And I also mentioned Jeff's May 3rd phlebotomy counts.  Dr. DiPersio was pleased and said to stop them until he sees Jeff in December.

Ken came down after church but first made a stop at Ted Drewes. Proof Jeff is improving!  Yum!  Plus more goodies were sent by the ladies at church from our monthly coffee/conversation time.  Thanks so much for our evening snack!

We have enjoyed this day of seeing Jeff beginning to do a little of his "normal" things.  God is Great, God is Good, and we thank Him for you being in our lives.  Your help is immeasurable. I'll probably send a short note tomorrow.

love,

Marcia
