Update # 139

40 Months

Good Evening,

Yesterday after school, I drove to Waterloo and arrived around 10:00 PM.  Iowa had a beautiful Spring day today.  We had sunshine and upper 70's but also had strong wind heading down to Iowa City.  And as usual with Spring weather, storms are on their way this evening.

I had arranged to come up for this eye appointment since the doctor had told Jeff that he wanted to dilate the eyes.  Jeff knew he could not drive the 70 miles back home.  Meridith was not sure if she would be available to go with him.  In mid-January, Meridith's office said a 60-day review would be done so she knew there was a possibility of a lay-off.  On April 6th, Meridith was laid off as Black Hawk county youth coordinator.  She has used some of these 3 weeks to relax and visit family.  Jeff and Meridith took a couple of days to get out of town for a tiny vacation.  And of course, job hunting has been part of the time.  Meridith had an interview earlier this week so we ask for prayers that God would guide such a short time in her search of new employment.

So the three of us were able to go together today.  Again, Dr. Wagoner was very pleased with Jeff's eyes.  And again said they were the best corneas of the day.  He was so impressed with them that he did not need to dilate Jeff's eyes.  Jeff has been using daily warm compresses and continues his pill.  His new weekend schedule causes some eye annoyance so Jeff needs to use drops on those days.  Jeff will continue his 3-month check-ups and has his next appointment set for July 29th.

After the appointment, we did a little shopping and had dinner out before we headed back to Waterloo.  It was nice to spend time with Jeff and Meridith but poor Ken had to stay home and work!  I'm not sure which day I'll return home but definitely by Sunday.  I have school till May 26th.

Jeff will come down in June for his appointment in St. Louis on the 7th.  We know a Cardinals game will be on the schedule, too.  Of course, Meridith is unsure of her situation at this time.  I'll update again in June.

We continue to give thanks to God for His protection of Jeff.  Your prayers are a large part of this continued recovery.  Our prayers are with all of you and we know several of you are facing your own challenges.  God's blessings still abound throughout our lives.  We praise and give glory to Him.

love,

Marcia
