Update # 127

18 Months

Good Afternoon,

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Ken and I are currently on a week’s vacation in Iowa. This state has again had to endure more weather tribulations with the historic flooding that I’m sure you’ve seen on the national news. Jeff had no water at his home but the TV station had a few problems plus the staff was working continuously keeping the communities informed of the situations. During our drive to Jeff’s on Wednesday and the drive yesterday to his eye appointment, we saw firsthand some of the devastation created by the high waters. Please remember all the victims in your prayers.

Jeff’s eye appointment in Iowa City with Dr. Wagoner went fairly well. The GVHD is not affecting his eyes and the corneas and tears look good. Jeff does have some inflammation with his eyelids (not related to GVHD) but Dr. Wagoner said one-third of the general population has this. Jeff is to use warm compresses on his eyes twice a day. Dr. Wagoner wants to continue Jeff on a three-month rotation so the next appointment is scheduled for October 2nd.

The only day off in June for Jeff was that sick day back on the 5th. He keeps busy between the two part-time jobs and Jeff seems to be doing well even with those long work hours during the worst part of the flooding. Ken and I certainly enjoyed our morning coffee and breakfast today at Starbucks!

Oh, Jeff has had no time to contact his donor again so I have nothing yet to share with you.

Jeff’s next StL appointment is August 11th and I hope to wait till then to update.

I can’t believe that in about 3 ½ weeks, it will be one year that Jeff moved back to Waterloo and returned to the work he loves. We always give thanks for your constant prayers regarding Jeff. You’ll never know how much we appreciate each and every one of you.

love,

Marcia
