Update # 41
Good Evening,
The month of January is almost gone which brings us closer to Spring. Our low temps and several snows have reminded us why we enjoy warmer weather. Of course, when we compare Jeff's temps and snow, we're glad we not farther north!!!
Jeff took a sick day on Wednesday, Jan. 19th to drive down here. His appointments in StL were for Thurs. the 20th. All three of us left around 6:00 AM for Jeff's CT Scan at 8:00. He also had blood drawn for his thryoid check. We saw his regular oncologist, Dr. Chu, and were glad to hear how pleased his is with Jeff. Dr. Chu just beamed and called Jeff "my star patient". Dr. Chu is happy that February 21st brings Jeff's 3rd anniversary date.
Then we met Jeff's "third" radiation oncologist. (The 2nd one also opened a private practice.) Dr. Logie is quite a quirkie guy. He also was pleased with Jeff's progress. He said Jeff will now only need yearly visits to the radiation department.
Monday the 24th, I called Costas for test results. The CT Scan showed "no change" which is good. The blood work was not back yet so I had to call again yesterday the 26th. I played a little bit of phone tag with Dr. Chu but we finally got in touch with each other. One thryoid test was high and Dr. Chu wants Jeff to contact an endocronologist in Waterloo and repeat the tests in a couple of months. Otherwise, Jeff continues his six-month check ups with Dr. Chu.
Jeff loves his full-time director position at KWWL Channel 7 in Waterloo. Ken and I went up to his place for a couple of days at Thanksgiving and then again for a few days after Christmas to be there for his "21st" birthday. We don't always understand what he is saying to us but we can tell by his tone if it's good or bad and we just nod and say ok. It really is interesting!!!
We ask for your continued prayers for Jeff but more importantly we request them for a couple of guys here in town. One boy I had last year has a missing enzyme and another 25-year old started chemo yesterday. We know how powerful the prayers of many can be. You all are in our thoughts and prayers often. We continue to be thankful for you.
We're not sure if Jeff will be coming in June or August for his next check-up. We do know NOT July due to "sweeps month". So until sometime this summer -- God's continued blessings on each of you.
Love,
Marcia
