Update # 39
Greetings,
Time continues to fly quickly when I notice the last update was January 1st and now it is March. We've had a cold, hard winter with too much ice lasting more than three weeks. The snow was beautiful but that ice was far too dangerous. Everyone stayed in as much as possible. We used three snow days at school plus had to dismiss early on another day due to sleet. Jeff is far north in Iowa and only has to deal with plenty of snow and no ice. Their temperature was extremely low for several weeks with minus teens and wind chill in the minus 30's.
Jeff came home this past Saturday, February 28 for 4 days due to mid-semester break. The three of us went to Cardinal Glennon on Monday, March 1st for Jeff's testing. We were there bright and early for the PET Scan and the CT Scan. Dr. Chu phoned today with the results and everything is great. The PET showed no activity and the CT was the same. Jeff is now 2 years cancer free!!! These first 2 years were the most critical and Dr. Chu (along with us) is elated to get to this point. There are still 3 more years till we get to use that one magic word but crossing this hurtle is important.
Jeff will return sometime in the summer for a checkup with Dr. Chu and with his Radiation Oncologist. Jeff is not sure of his summer plans just yet. He had once discussed taking a class and working part-time but he may have an opportunity to work full time at Channel 7.
As Jeff returns to Iowa tomorrow, we are grateful that all your prayers for the last 2 years have helped him reach this significant time in his healing. Thank you for the strength you continue to give each of us. God has truly blessed us. May He bless you as you walk the road in this Lenten season into His glorious resurrection on Easter.
Love,
Marcia
